[Special] Ready to Komalize Yourself?
March 28, 2013

Here’s something that might get you excited over the weekend: a free game demo

Here at Com2uS, we opened a game demo for 20-something to 30-something women for the not-yet-exposed game.

The concept of this game is all about animals building their own amusement park and expanding their circus. We don’t have a name yet and nothing is decided, but the phrase ‘Kokoma’ might be in it.

So.. what does ‘Kokoma’ mean? You guys must all be wondering if that’s even a word. Well, yeap it is. Kokoma is a phrase that stands for ‘small kids’ in Korean and this game is like the smallest yet cutest game ever!

All sorts of tigers and birds running around the amusement park.. how tempting is that? If so, let’s found out what girls (well..not quite girls..more like young women) think about this game.

The game demo was held inside Com2uS. After gathering around, they all got a chance to get their hands on this new game.

and without further instructions they all got REALLY into this game (I am quite sure no one was listening to the guides after all)

The power of concentration can lead us to another level…

for this group, they had a whole full hour to try out the new game! After a short discussion, they had to jot down what they thought about the game and we were open to all kinds of criticisms….

and ideas  :)

Some of the users were quite skeptical on how they weren’t any explanations on the game concept and some said there should be unique animals.

In either ways, their insights sure gave us a better vision on how to develop this game and I am pretty sure this game will become a mega hit thanks to this group!

So.. do you still feel that ‘Kokoma’ should be in the game title? or do you have a better idea? ;)

[Special] Com2uS @SXSW
March 19, 2013

Phew! What a whirlwind week. With a bag full of Com2uS swag and some awesome equipment, we sat in the airport and waited…and waited…and waited. Our airline had cancelled our flight after we got to the airport! After these terrible travel snafus around 3A.M. to Austin, TX! Our airline had cancelled our flight after we got to the airport! We showed off some GolfStar as they re-routed us. The next day we got up bright and early to head over to the Palmer Convention Center to attend the SXSW Gaming Expo. We made a few rounds, looking at thousands of people enjoying tons of games on many systems. We passed out our swag and tried to find someone at the IGN booth. The busy expo floor made it hard to stop people as they took everything in: it’s obvious SXSW Gaming has grown tremendously even over the last year!

In the back of the convention center was a large stage with a ton of chairs, filled with audience members who were watching the IGN Pro League battle each other in various games! They had the concentration of, well, pros! We introduced Com2uS to all the booths, including Nintendo and even Blizzard! Blizzard liked our graphics and one of the Nintendo attendants owned Tower Defense! We ran into Mario and Luigi, saw some cosplayers having a good time, and headed to rest, having handed out half our swag already!

The next few days we hung out in and out of the Expo, asking tons of people to play our games. Everyone loved them! The favorites were Swing Shot and Homerun Battle 2. GolfStar’s graphics were smooth, and people generally enjoyed it. We met lots of different people as we asked people to demo our games. We met professors who were interested in having their students play-test our titles, a rapper who made up a freestyle rap about Com2uS on the fly, and some non-gamers too! I think we had them converted to Com2us after our demos!

SXSW Interactive featured such speakers as Al Gore and Peter Thiel. The interactive portion, minus the Gaming Demo, was very much about inspiring attendees and a more general sense of the future of what it means to be “interactive”. Although there wasn’t a general sense of specifics about mobile gaming, Com2uS made its mark!

[Com2uS Expedition] Com2uS Overexposed?
March 8, 2013
Filed under: Com2uS Expedition, Com2uS Story, Etc, News, Notices, Swing Shot, iOS Games — Com2uS @ 1:25 am

OK, what do I mean by ‘Com2uS Overexposed’?
And what are these people doing in a office-like space that says “Sydney” but doesn’t even look like it’s really Sydney?

We had a fan club meeting last week!
17 people were invited from our ‘Naver Cafe’; a Korean forum like where we have over 50 thousand fans.
We greeted them with open arms and headed straight to a restaurant.
(So they can be ready for the tight schedule! HAHA)

After supper, our 17 awesome fans gathered in a Com2Us meeting room and…

they got a chance to get their hands on ‘Little Legends’; the new Com2uS game that hasn’t even been released yet!
It’s coming soon to the App Store and Google Play this year. :)

Yep, the air got hot between the developers and fans with great ideas and reviews of the game.

And of course we can’t let our precious fans leave empty handed!
Everyone got little monkey dolls from Swing Shot. Great!
They also had a chance to meet Tiny Farm developers and tour the office.
We hope one day we can invite our fans from abroad and create more awesome memories together.

[Com2uS Expedition] Top 3 Videos You Just Can’t Miss
February 13, 2013

According to EducateTube.com, 48 hours of video are uploaded every minute and more than 2.8 billion videos will be on YouTube by 2013. (Oct. 2012) Amazing isn’t it? If you think about the fact that YouTube was established in just 2005, it’s a surprising number for sure. It is impossible to watch every one of them, but there are certainly some videos that you MUST NOT miss.
The Com2uS YouTube page, where you can see our latest trailers and teasers, had a blast last year too. We had over 11.5 million views in the second half of 2012 alone! I want to show you our three most-viewed videos! If you missed them, here’s your chance to catch up! ;)

1. SwingShot Official Trailer [Direct link]

With over 1.4 million views, SwingShot got the honor as the best Com2uS video in the second half of last year! A wicked forest witch curses innocent animals just because she’s… bored? This cartoony video with a fun behind-the-scene story surely got people’s attention. The funny faces of animals when they got hit by these huge rocks always makes me laugh. Check it out!

2. HOMERUN BATTLE 2 Trailer [Direct link]

The Homerun Battle series is one of our proudest achievements. And you can feel that pride in this video! The debut of a new sexy slugger was a hot issue back in 2012, and when she hits home runs and the ball flies across through atmosphere into space, it’s just magnificent! What is battle like in space? Watch it yourself. With also over 1.4 million views, the HOMERUN BATTLE 2 Trailer takes second place honors!

3. Derby Days Run! Run! Run! [Direct link]

This little video (because it’s only 24 seconds) takes the bronze with just… 1 million views! All I can say about it is that… a little pony runs, and it multiplies and then multiplies again. How did this movie get over a million views? That is the real mystery. LOL! But one thing’s for sure, you can’t help but smile after watching it!

[Com2uS Expedition] Derby Days Producer finally reveals!
November 30, 2012

This year was a very busy year for Derby Days’ team. An Autumn update, Spring update, Midsummer update, Halloween update, Cinco de Mayo update, Valentine’s Day update, and … a Christmas update to wrap up 2012! Oh my, SO many new horses were introduced this year. So, let me ask you, which horse is your favorite? This morning, I suddenly wondered “How can so many creative horses come from the Derby Days team?” and then I wondered “Which 3 of the year are their favorites?’ So I headed over to the Derby Days team after lunch and met HyunSoo, the current producer of Derby Days. He was a bit shy to take a picture so I don’t have any photos of him (I’ll try to get a candid shot of him next time, but only if you guys want). Here are the 3 horses he chose as his favorite. Too bad Flamingo wasn’t included, he’s the best looking one in my farm. And he’s my favorite. :P

Name: Rabbit Ears
Date of Birth: On the 25th of December, 1895, as the sun was at its highest point in the sky.
Characteristic: So fierce that if will strike you back if you get on her nerves!
Why is she your favorite?: I’m Catholic and I’ve attended church for as long as I can remember, so Easter always reminds me of my childhood. I retired my position as a choir leader when I had to prepare for my SATs, and I couldn’t start again due to my busy life – but I become sentimental whenever I think back about those happy days. When I look at Rabbit Ears, I can hear and see the little kids giggling and running around after the quiet Easter mass.

Name: Spring Lotus
Date of Birth: On the 8th of April, in the year B.C.E. 563.
Characteristic: Very generous but also full of passion
Why is he your favorite?: I happened to attend a Buddhist high school so whenever Buddha’s Birthday comes, I think of my high school friends and art class mates. I designed a Spring Lotus to reflect both the excitement of the 21st century (his lotus likes funky hair) and the inner peace of Buddha (his yellow body). Yeah, I think that Spring Lotus reflects the life and dreams I yearned for.

Name: Flame Runner
Date of Birth: Unknown
Characteristic: His eyes are full of flames so it’s hard to tell his emotions. But the flames turn pink whenever he’s in front of pretty girls!
Why is he favorite?: Even after all my childhood schooling, I somehow still made games and violent RPGs with plenty of skeletons and monsters. I guess it’s just my nature. So, I took a chance during  Halloween season 2012 and created Flame Runner! He stands out from all those other pretty and dreamy horses in Derby Days and… I LIKED IT! Hopefully he burns away all of the bugs in Derby Days :(

It was very interesting to see every horses has their own special stories. I’ll try to bring you more next time!  Can’t wait to see what kind horses will surprise us next year. Oh, guess what. Derby Days just got a Christmas update! Get it updated now and let it snow in Derby Days~! :D

[Special] Com2uS revealing 10 new games at G-star 2012
November 14, 2012

..
G-Star 2012!
How many of you know what G-Star is?
It’s the largest annual international game exhibition in South Korea. And this year, it was held in Busan, Bexco. (Busan is all the way down from Gang-Nam.) And we, Com2uS, participated in G-Star 2012; showcasing 17 games including 10 brand new titles!

Yes, if you guys remember last year, we had the largest booth for mobile games in G-Star 2011. We prepared even bigger and better one this year and this is how exactly our booth looked like from the dog-point-of-view.

And this is how it looked like in real life! Do you see all these people experiencing our new games? We were so excited to see tons of people visiting our booth and lining up to play our new games.

I’ve got some sneak preview picture of the new games that will be available on the App Store and the Google Play next year. This image below is a screenshot of Little Legend, a social RPG game with stunning 3D graphics.

I guess you will know what  Wild Catch will be like just by looking at the image! It’s a fishing game where you become a fisherman on the boat and catch fish! Oooo watch out for the hook right above you people~ ;)

And the League of Heroes is an action battle game. As you can see in the picture, we came to a conclusion that boys prefer this game more than girls..

We had a fun Tiny Farm trivia time! Everyone is shouting to answer first to the quiz. Some of them went home with a prize; a legendary animal Phoenix!

There’s our Com2uS girl helping a visitor on how to play our new game. We had about 100 staff members and 100 mobile demo devices at our booth to let as many people try our games easier and… faster.

Akoo and Azzi (also our staff member) did a job quite well on taking pictures with visitors with thousands of different facial expressions. Oh, hold on a sec, is Akoo asking Azzi out for a dinner after the show? Oh please, no affairs at work! :P

Officially over 190,000 people visited G-Star 2012. Huge number isn’t it! We are so looking forward to the next year’s G-Star. But of course we hope to see YOU in other exhibitions or shows in other countries too! It’s always our joy to meet our fans and show them the new world of fun and excitement~! Thank you :)
