View Full Version : Reasons to not upgrade

Well it seems like the changes to gameplay in this latest upgrade seem to be mainly negative from everything I've read so far. The thing that strikes me as the worst is in the collection of points and card rewards. If you are only collecting a card or maybe two a game, and the amount of points collected in a game are now so few, then the only way for you to upgrade your team? You guessed it. Spend some of your nice hard earned cash at the com2us store! 29 bucks will get you 800,000 points. I've bought the 800k points on 2 seperate occaisions. One time I went solely with the yanks as they had the best odds of bettering top players...... I got 8 or 9 different versions of Derrick Jeter and not much else. A couple of Swishers from some other pulls, bought some level up cards and that was as far as my 29 bucks went. The second time I did it a bit differrent and got 3 usefull plat cards, and about 100 normal or rare H. Kendrick and e,e B. Posey type cards. The usable ones were not wven top 10 in their own position player cards mind you, but at least useable. Where I am now in the game, at 3 seasons in and maybe 500 games total including exhibition games, I'd probably be lucky to get one usable card. I'd guess it's been about 100-125 games since I've recieved a player as an in game reward, that I even bothered keeping for god sake, and that is playing with the +13 card coach, and +5 card cheerleader and getting sometimes 7 or 8 cards a game. Cut that back to 2 or even 3 reward cards a game and I'll get a keeper maybe every 3rd or 4th season if I'm lucky. No kiddies, I'm sorry to say that as well as the painfully poor new gameplay I've heard of, the collecting aspect of this game will also be over for those who don't wish to, or can't afford to dump wads of cash into their teams. A positive boon for com2us' finances if the masses go for it, but they won't be getting this boys dough cause I ain't upgrading. And I'm dang sorry for those who already have. I hope they have backed themselves up, or have another way back or another not upgraded unit because I kind of got to like the flavor of this place and the folk who come here. If they quit the game there will certainly be no reason for them to come here anymore and that would be kind of sad. Hope com2us sees the wisdom of rectifying this downgrade very quickly because it sounds like a disaster. And if they don't? Maybe we'll all meet up in the lobby of some other games site, cause this will be the 9innings death knell.
Well, I've gone on too much perhaps, so let's hear your opinions on this upgrade/downgrade or however you see it.

Zigzzs I just upgraded on my old device. Well so far not that bad I won the first 4 games by over 5 runs and got a few in game card rewards. I pulled a platinum j.mijares not too bad so far. I do know k.drabek is now a -18 on his card as a relief. Pitcher. The j.Garcia that replaced my Wainwright is not too bad except he only has 4seam,curve,and change-up not to happy about that but not much can be done about it. So I guess I will keep updating on how my experience is with this new update. On a good note Mauer is now b speed and Kemp is a speed.

I'm too scared to update it. Gonna wait one week to update. I always do that when there's a major update. Maybe 3-5 days. Wow, Mauer now actually can run, first catcher with B speed. .__.

I will also add like tilt said in another posy your era may start taking a hit. I have yet to pitch a game where I gave up less then 2 runs wow granderson is now an a speed runner to. I'll try and get a whole list together of what changes I have noticed

I actually been using Chone Figgins as my catcher with A speed and B defense. Originally I got Hero Figgins with A/A and upgraded him to LEVEL 7 with 103/90/100 stats. But since my infield will full I decided to put him at Catcher and his stats aren't terrible. Putting him at C decreased his stats to 97/84/94 with A speed still and B defense.
I also tried it with Reyes and Ichiro, both A/A but both of their defense went down to C.
Figgins is the only one that gone down to B. I actually have a Rare Mauer D/A card but don't like his D speed

To summarize the main points:
Pros of update:
1. Pitching EDR stat is more realistic.
Cons of update:
1. COMPLETELY predictable, boring, retarded games. You will struggle to score a few points in the first 7-8 innings, while the AI will almost always blast off to a 4-2 lead or something like that. Then, in the 8-9-extra innings, you'll completely dominate the AI and score 5-10 runs IN ONE single inning to win the game. Absolutely terrible. You're ERA is GUARANTEED to drop, the wins won't be satisfying as it's pretty much fixed, and you're pretty much going to hit yourself after every game because you'll realize it's the EXACT same scenario as the last game you've played. Honestly, winning is no fun at all anymore.
2. 95% of the stat and skill upgrades do not make sense. Lots of deserving players had nothing changed; some even got worse! While other players got stat boosts for no clear reason.
3. In-game card rewards is down DRASTICALLY for me. This might be just me (I don't use Card +% cheerleader/coaches), but I only get about one card a game now.
4. Some injured players stayed while others left. Most notably, Wainwright is out of the game. And also, T. Francona is still in the game.
5. Rosters DID get updated, but it's still an old update. There's been some major moves in the last week that aren't reflected in the update because the roster was taken from December 1st.
So yeah. You decide for yourself whether you should update or not. This game used to be enjoyable and fun despite the occasional frustrations it'll throw at you. But now it's just plain crap. I won't be playing this game anymore until the next update comes, and I'll see if that improves anything.
I definitely am regretting the decision of downloading the update.

@tiltmytouch.
So far for me aside for giving up 2 runs a game which is about MLB standard i'd say, I haven't had things be that much different the before. I'm also on android so maybe they did something different. And I agree. The downgrade to Kemp and others plus a lack of updating the players who deserve it. Kemp, tulo, hamilton, verlander just to name a few. Also what are they thinking with Robinson cano? He has a fielding percentage of. 985 and is still a c defendet

Too bad you can't downgrade it. Unless you have an Android, I could give you 9 Innings v4.0.1. Drawback is you have to start over again.... .____.

Theoretically I could downgrade it, but it'd be a lot of unnecessary work involving searching through deleted contents, backing up, and more.

Damn, too bad - he should be back for spring training. Solid ratings and always high k's. I've been hoping for a platinum.

Only 4 days (Iphone) and 2 days droid since the update and this place is already dying off. Of course things slow down sometimes, we'll just have to watt and see, but it seems people have less to be excited about in the way this latest update has changed the game.
Hopefully com2us is aware of the goings on, and the consensus here that this update has 'not been successful in most peoples eyes and does something about it. I know many believe that they don't monitor the 9innings part of this site, but I'd bet that they do. They'd be crazy not to. It's a good place for them to find out opinions on their game, and see what problems are cropping up. I think that they have just decided to not meddle here so things can progress without the feeling that they are looking over our shoulders which would then affect the content. We make a better test group that way. Just my thoughts on it.

Other than a few questionable stat changes, im fine with it.
It seems like they made the AI Much harder, ive been giving up 5-9 runs/game now. I guess difficulty is a lot harder.
ERAs are sure gonna go up with this

Is the AI ERA's on the leaderboards going up as well?
And no matter how much harder com2us made this game, I would still be happy if the games at least weren't predictable. That is the biggest thing that makes this game so not fun now.

That's what I suspected. Com2us wanted to make the game more realistic by driving up the best pitcher ERA's in the game to 1.5-2.5, but instead of re-doing their system, they simply rigged the AI to score a couple times to ensure you don't keep on getting the otherworldly .5-1.5 ERA's we've been getting in the past.
Shame.

Well, I gave this game another shot. I really wanted to keep playing it. But this update is just a huge mess of fail. I probably played 10 games or so, and at one point, in 4 straight games, the AI scored exactly 2 runs in all those games in the first inning, and I allowed no hits/runs the rest of the game. And comebacks in this game now are pretty much guaranteed. You can basically swing on any pitch after the 7th inning and hit it. With these changes, I'm pretty sure it'd be fairly easy to break my 70+ game win streak record now, while having a whole lot of "fun" in doing so.
Com2us is definitely one of the worst developers I've seen. Most of their other games are iAP-riddled crap, and they never seem to put any interest into this game. I was happy to see that they tried to make this game more realistic in this last update, but the way they did it is just stupid. The entire gameplay system needs to be changed, but instead, they simply have the AI hit 2 runs against you early in the game, and the rest of the game is simply the same gameplay as before. Incredibly pathetic, lazy fix to the problem, and it ended up ruining the game for me rather than improving it.
When I have time some day in the future, I might consider downgrading back to the previous version, but for now I'm deleting this game.

But doesn't that BORE you? Before, it would be totally random when those AI bursts would come at you. Now it's every game in the first couple innings, and never any time else. I don't know about you but I can't stand this game anymore after repeatedly giving up 2 runs in the first couple innings, and then coming back with a ridiculous 10 runs across the last few innings to win. Honestly, I don't know how that can be fun after EVERY SINGLE GAME is like that.

That is not something that has occurred that often just when they do score it's usually the ffirst inning. I do hate it and it is very predictable when it will happen.aside from thatthe game play for me has been pretty much the same. I do see less reward cards and of lower quality now also. Verlander and Kershaw got stat boosts. Kemp and Tulowitzki Speed increased, Josh Hamilton is sameish, his EYE is way too low however.
The only reason we aren't noticing most changes is because our Hero/Plats already have random point placements. I have a Plat S.Romo before and a Plat S.Romo After update.
Before update: [85,91,61] Golden pitch, Light speed, Composure
After update: [100,88,51] Golden Pitch, Grinder, Triumph

If you read my post about the update changes it shows most of the players that increased their speed and how do you figure verlander got a stat boost? My verlander went from 95,101,107 to 102,102,99 all it looks like to me is they took points from almost every pitchers endurance and added it to their loc and pow.

And thanks for the offer, androidguy, but I'm on the iOS. We can restore to previous backups, too, but there's a lot of tedious manual work to be done and I'm just not up for it right now. Maybe I'll revert to the previous version sometime later.

May I butt in and just ask of you guys whom I admire, I am still on the 2.0 version which I believe is the very first upgrade that originally erased some things from people and they gave them credits by way of those items you buy in the 'shop' (Level ups, various cheerleader cards, etc.). I have the ability to upgrade to 4.0. I know I am NEVER going to do the one being discussed in this thread (5.0) but would you guys who did use the 2.0 enjoy that upgrade to 4.0? SHould I bother to do it? I am happy with my version ...well, only thing that seems to be irritating to me is that I am pulling a ton of Platinums now but they aren't really better than the RED or Blue or even Greens that I have of that person. Almost every time its less points. When I see others lists, their cards are much much higher in points. Even if I got all 8 level ups and the 6 ex points, I fall FAR short. Weird!

4.0 was a decent upgrade. Nothing about it. Ironically, that was the update where people said the difficult ramped up a lot, but I thought it was easier. But regardless, I'd definitely go for 4.0.
Anyway, for anyone else who cares, I'm going to re-downloaded the game just to give it another shot. I realized I only played about 15-20 games, which is usually how long some of those slumps go for. Maybe I was simply in a slump, so I'll check it out later.
