im also new to this game but from what i understand about the arc mage is this

you need to get these skills...

Active:
Fireball (MAX THIS)
Call Lightning (MAX THIS)
Cold Wave (MAX THIS)
Missle Storm (useful skill, does decent damage, low cooldown)
Foresight (MAX THIS)
Summon Golem (MAX THIS, GOOD FOR BOSS FIGHTS)

Passive:
Magic Arrow (so far i only have 1 skill point in this because the damage only goes up by 1% after the first skill point, YOU MUST PUT AT LEAST 1 SKILL POINT HERE)
Golem Master (not lvl 30 yet but this seems like it will be useful)
Chaos Mana (again not lvl 30 yet but double casting in Com2us's other games it AWESOME)

Also i personally find that mages do more damage when they have a wand and shield equipped instead of a two handed staff, more Damage Per Second (DPS) which means more total damage also it gives you more defense (the shield)
NOTE:
Mages can only use one type of shield (Light Shield)

I hope this helps :)

At beginning, alternate between Summon Golem, and Firebolt. (Add one point to the Magic Arrow, and only one point. After that the skill only increases by 1% which is useless)

Once you unlock Ice, add skill to that.
Same for Lightning. Passive, use at your choice - except for Golem Master, you will want to add points to that every chance you get (At level 30, then 33, then 36, then 39). This will help you A LOT.

Magic Arrow, is a decent skill, so add 2 point to this.

If I'm right, isn't foresight that skill that boost your Golems attack speed? In retrospect, I would actually skip this skill, since it is only tempoary, and a waste of a quick slot.

I don't exactly remember what I did, but by the time you fight God of Darkness, which is beatable at Level 40-41; you will want Level 4 Golem Master, and Level 10+ Summon Golem (I did mess up on some of my skills, and realised this later). The rest of the skills are up to you, but Ice is great because it completely imbolises the monsters around you, and increases your crit chance when they are froze. Lightning has a small chance of stunning.

I didn't learn the passive chaos mana, yet, but can be efficent.

(With Ameli in your party, focus on HEALING and the passive skill that boost efficeny of healing. Learn some other skills, like Solar Ray, but healing is needed, since pots have a cooldown too) and the 3rd member of your party can be anyone - it is not important except for extra damage.
