2/3rds through my first season I think I have the opposite problem of most. A 1.6 team era and 1 through 5 in strikeout rankings is the only reason I win games. I can't seem to make contact consistently. My strategy has turned into taking pitches to get into the relievers then getting going. I score almost all my runs in the last three innings.

- sit on fastballs for killer ball: check
- cut down swinging at garbage: check
- look inside for pull, outside for push: check
- +8 power coach: check
- .400 team avg: decent but where's the power

Problems:
1 - hiting a change: only one homer and so many DP's I don't even swing anymore
2 - pop ups to catcher: is this swinging too late?
3 - if a pitch is inside or outside, better to swing earlier or later than down the middle?
4 - low pitches, especially curve: when I swing late why in hell do I pop up? At worst I should be topping it and make a ground ball.
5 - lightspeed pitcher vs killer ball hitter: still sit on 4seam or go breaking ball?

1. Hitting a change is all timing, if you aren't hitting home runs, you're not timing it correctly.

2. Pop-ups usually happen from swinging at balls. If you can't react fast enough to a pitch and swing at everything, turn down the game speed.

3. Outside - later
Inside - earlier

4. Don't swing late.

5. 4 seam, since its easier to time, and even though the pitcher has increased stats, you do too, so when you will most likely hit it farther.

this is a baseball game... how much higher do u want your team average to be? i feel like i make good contact on every swing but quite often scrub fielders are making amazing dives and stuff.. it kinda sucks sure, but i dont think id play any baseball game past the first season if i ended with a .600 team average

Sounds like you may be overthinking it. All of your strategies sound good, but at a certain point it comes down to eye-hand coordination, just like the real thing.

I'd just play a bunch in exhibition mode until you start seeing consistent good wood. Then your strategies will enhance the results.

Both this game and homerun battle reward hitting the breaking ball at it's height, which makes sense I guess.

Look at your player description before they bat. A pull hitter's stance will be open, etc.

I could care less about %'s, though I lead the league. I want taters, so I pull a lot and swing away, what I wish I could have done in real life lol

And timing is everything
