No wonder I did a deadly this morning without a pet equipped. I thought it was just glitching...

Depends how you think of it, for quite a few people deadly is better.

No. What makes a COD a COD is still intact. Crit + armor point + Hp > MR. That's still intact.

Again, not really. Deadly is now part of the game and will only continue to do so. Instead of worrying about the lose of MR, it may be more interesting to think about how it affects everyone's metagame. Especially rangers - crit + deadly chances. And again, not everyone has a COD to begin with.
