How to put an exact amount to combine and make a rare item?

Anyone can help me. I can't combine an item to make a rare or epic items such us. Dark Strider, etc. I put an exact amount to combine but everytime i'm going to click it on combine but i cannot click on the number in d-pad or virtual pad mode on iPod Touch to touch it anywhere. Please help me to make it. Because i have so many item to combine and stuck on my combination recipe book. thanks.
